To coin a popular phrase, there’s always time for tea. Especially if there’s scones and sandwiches in the mix as well. Afternoon tea is one of those timeless activities that never really goes out of fashion.

It also offers the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends and family (we all have plenty of that to do this year) in a relaxed but stylish environment.

Kildare is lucky to be home to some of the best Afternoon Tea offerings in Ireland, with prices and packages to suit everyone, and we’ve picked out five that should cater to every afternoon tea requirement. Now. Pass us the scones.

For the all-out experience: The K Club

The pride of Straffan has three options available for those who want to really immerse themselves in a luxurious Afternoon Tea Experience:

Afternoon Tea in the Drawing Room :

Price: €50pp or €70pp with a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne | min. 2 people

Afternoon Tea is served in the beautifully elegant Drawing Room and has become one of the most sought-after traditions among guests at the 5 Star resort.

It’s not hard to see why as it boasts a three-tiered silver stand of freshly baked scones with jam and cream, delectable pastries and elegant finger sandwiches served with tea and coffee.

To let you fully enjoy the experience and the food, Afternoon Tea is served in two sittings, with the first at 2pm and the second at 4pm.

For the tried and tested favourite: Killashee Hotel

By their own admission, Afternoon Tea in The Terrace Restaurant or the Conservatory is one of their favourite traditions, so you can rest assured you’re going to be well looked after.

Served daily from 1:00pm -2.30pm, use it as the perfect occasion to catch up with friends or loved ones, all the while taking in the hotel’s gorgeous garden views.

30 minutes from Dublin city centre, and 2 minutes from Naas town just off the N7, Killashee is an ideal and accessible for everyone to celebrate tea time together.

In line with government legislation in relation to indoor dining, you will be asked to present your Covid Certificate or HSE Vaccination card upon arrival before being seated indoors.

For the Castle Lovers: Barberstown Castle

The Glenroyal Hotel have brought the afternoon tea tradition to you in the comfort of your own home! The amazing Glenroyal Afternoon Tea is available for takeaway through Shoda Market Café!

The Keadeen Hotel offers a decadent, classical Afternoon Tea experience served in their light-filled Atrium Lounge at €26 per person and is available Monday – Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between 3.30 and 5pm.
