Tebi Rex & Guests

Presented by Riverbank Arts Centre and Word Up Collective, this all ages show offers an opportunity to see some of Ireland’s most exciting artists in an intimate setting. Alternative hip-hop duo Tebi Rex (Matt Ó and Max Zanga) have created a stir not only at home but in the US and UK via their high energy live show, radio friendly singles, witty videos and engaging social media presence. Their 2019 debut album The Young Will Eat The Old was lauded as one of the domestic releases of the year, while the 2021 follow-up It’s Gonna Be Okay raised their profile even further both at home and abroad. They’ll be joined by Daire Patel, an artist influenced by Mac Miller and Frank Ocean who combines a hip-hop feel with a lo-fi bedroom pop sound and has built a profile thanks to word of mouth, playlists on both sides of the Atlantic and RTE / BBC radio support. Shollah (formerly known as Nxbody) and producer Owin first came together on last year’s NONETHEWISER EP, which ranged from smooth melancholic productions to hard-hitting aggressive bangers – influenced by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Isaiah Rashad, Saba and Kanye West among others. The night will be compared by Sasha Terfous, Poet Laureate for Wexford and one of the most important figures in Ireland’s spoken word community. Using her work as a form of activism, her poetry draws attention to the voices that should be heard and issues that need to be addressed – be it the racism and homophobia of her youth in a small rural town or larger issues such as climate change and the Black Lives Matter movement.

This event is supported by Kildare County Council and funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media’s Local Live Performance Programming Scheme.
