June may not be all we expected weather-wise, but that doesn’t mean the summer celebrations have to dwindle! Kildare is jam-packed this month with free activities for all the family, from teddy bear picnics to street festivals and yoga retreats!
Wellness Day – June 16th
Come and meet the amazing local holistic therapists, yoga and pilates teachers for a day dedicated to your wellbeing.
From 10.30am- 4pm there will be treatments on offer of Meridian Massage, Reiki, Acupuncture in Ryston’s Function Room, as well as information available on EFT, Cranio Sacral Therapy and natural skin care and candles.
You will find a variety of talks/ workshops, yoga & pilates classes throughout the day upstairs in Ryston’s Function Room. All proceeds will be in aid of HopeD.

Solstice on the Liffey – June 21st
Local Event lighting company ‘Sirenic lighting’ presents a celebration of light on the river Liffey in Newbridge to coincide with the longest day of the year. A unique and atmospheric lighting display not to be missed, the event kicks off at 10pm in Linear Park, Newbridge.
Teddy Bear’s Picnic – June 22nd
What better way to celebrate the final weekend of June Fest than with live music in the park! Bring a picnic basket, a comfy blanket and sunglasses for a family picnic in Liffey Linear Park.
Come down and enjoy nature walks hosted by Wild Kildare throughout the day and not to forget St. Mark’s Duck Race, a fundraiser for a great cause!
The Curragh Community Ramble – June 23rd
To mark the end of June Fest and to celebrate the commencement of the Kildare Derby Festival, both festival committees and The Curragh Racecourse have collaborated to arrange this historic stroll across St. Brigid’s pastures in the company of local historians exploring ancient pathways, monuments, sporting legends, and breathtaking panoramic views of our shared unique local landscape! Assembly point: Heritage Centre Kildare Town Square.
Street Striker Derby – June 26th
Join us for this competition of ball skills where children throughout the county will display their skills in this Street Striker Derby! The overall champion will be awarded the opportunity to be the mascot and lead the Irish football team during an International. Event begins at 7pm in the Market Square, Kildare, with family-friendly entertainment also.
Craft Fair – June 27th
Aras Bhride are hosting a Craft Fair from 10am until 3.30pm. There will be crafts and gifts produced from local artisans on display and available to purchase!
The Paddy Power Irish Derby Lip Sync Battle – June 29th
You have heard of Lip Sync but you have never heard of the Paddy Power Irish Derby Lip Sync Battle. After the Irish Derby racing, Kildare town will be the place to be to witness some of racing’s legend’s take to the stage and battle it out. Who will be the Paddy Power Irish Derby Lip Sync Champion? Place your bets! Kicks off at 7.30pm in the Market Square!
Inaugural Irish Derby Legends Walk – June 30th
The Irish Derby Legends Walk will take place on Sunday 30th June from the Irish National Stud at 2pm. The Walkers will take in the Irish Derby “trip” of 12 furlongs from the stud, through the Kildare Village and finish in town with a fete at the Square to celebrate the culmination of the Derby Festival.
Family Day on the Square
Come and celebrate the culmination of the Kildare Derby Festival with a Family Fete on the Market Square. Entertainment and fun will abound for Adults and Children alike from 2.30pm.
Admission is FREE but please note there will be some activities that there will be a charge.
