Jon, Ciara, Bo and Edie are back again with their second instalment of Road-Trip Reality through County Kildare. The Lillywhite family are Kildare natives and have been enjoying what’s on their doorstep throughout the Thoroughbred County.

This week’s episode takes the clan to Mondello Park, where the 50th anniversary celebrations for the racetrack were well underway. The Historic Racing Festival featured the exhilarating sights and sounds of Formula One, as well as classic cars, vintage motorcycles, and the Museum of Motorsport.

Next up on the road-trip agenda was a visit to the fabulous National Stud and Gardens, where the kids spent a fun-filled afternoon playing in St. Fiachra’s Gardens spotting the fairy doors and feeding the miniature horses. The foursome also got acquainted with the stars of the show, retired racehorse and Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Kicking King, as well as Ascot Gold Cup winner Rite of Passage.

Bo and Edie are big fans of animals, so a trip to Kildare Farm Foods was a must-see while road-tripping through the county. The family were honoured to meet Hillary Clinton and Donald Hump, the resident celebrity camels on the farm! Fluffy and Duster also made an appearance as the proud ostrich parents to the first naturally-hatched ostrich egg in Ireland!

The Shiny Day TV crew hit the road once again to explore Kildare’s famous canals by barge with BargeTrip.ie. Captain Bo and Edie donned their lifejackets and took to open waters where they helped steer the barge down the beautiful Grand Canal, while learning all about the history and infrastructure of the winding canals.

It’s almost time to call it a day, but not before a quick bite to eat in the Lock 13 Gastropub & Brewpub. By far Dad’s favourite pitstop in Kildare so far, Jon gets to sample some of the craft beer made on site on the brewery!
