Kildare has some fantastic forest walks and hiking trails that are sure to blow the cobwebs away and get you ready for a weekend of entertaining guests.

For some, there is simply no better way to spend an afternoon than immersed in history.

This museum shows the true heart of the Curragh’s ancient history.

The Museum is divided into three sections – the area’s ancient archaeology, the British military presence and the Defence Forces. The displays are intriguing with vintage vehicles, tanks and artillery on show.

For pint-loving pals

Curious tourists who love Ireland’s favourite tipple can make an unusual pilgrimage to one of the county’s lesser-known sights.

Arthur rests peacefully near Hazelhatch, Co Kildare in a tiny cemetery that dates from the 6th century, local historians claim.

For chilled-out chums

Kildare is known as the Canals County with 120 km of still waters crossing its landscape and linking its towns and villages.

BargeTrip.ie operate from Sallins Harbour which is located just off the M7 motorway. The barge is available for private charter for groups any day of the week and operates up to six scheduled cruises daily at weekends.
