Walk for St Brigid’s day & Imbolc the beginning of Spring.
Why not start the day off by walking St Brigid’s Trail or any walk of your choosing within current 5km restrictions?
If your walk takes you through the town watch out for a gazebo outside the Heritage Centre which will have a table with a few items to take away including some daffodil plants, rushes for St Brigid’s Crosses cd’s of a guided tour of the town and more. This will be unmanned so we would ask that each person takes only one of each item. There will also be the opportunity to tie a ribbon, piece of cloth to a Willow Brigid to make a wish on the day (Courtesy of Beth Murphy) 11am – 4pm
Organized by Kildare Town Heritage Centre in conjunction with Kildare Town Tidy Towns, Healthy Ireland Project and the Community Garden.

“…we discovered the myths and legends that emerged over the centuries on St. Brigid. The hills of Ardagh in Longford, Croghan in Offaly and Uisneach in Westmeath all have their stories. These, and many others, form the basis of an account of the powerful woman who transformed a backward, forgotten land into the Island of Light in the Dark ages. We will be telling this story..”

ALLEGED STAKES(GROUP 3)
The Alleged Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in Ireland open to Thoroughbreds aged four years or older. It is run over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at the Curragh.
The race was first run in 2003. The race is named in honour of Alleged who was trained by Vincent O’Brien to win the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 1977 and 1978. The 2017 running commemorated the centenary of O’Brien’s birth. It was upgraded from Listed status to Group 3 in 2017.

COOLMORE MOORESBRIDGE STAKES (GROUP 2)
The Mooresbridge Stakes takes its name from Moore’s Bridge which is a local landmark close to the racecourse on the Curragh plain. The race, which is open to horses aged four-years-old and upwards, held Listed status until it was promoted to Group 3 level in 2003. In 2017 the race was promoted to Group 2 status.
The only horse to have won consecutive renewals of the race is Nysaean who was sent out by Richard Hannon snr to win the race in 2003 and 2004.
The Mooresbridge is a key trial for the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup in late May and Rebelline (2002), Fame And Glory (2010), Fascinating Rock (2015), So You Think (2011) and Magical (2019) have all won both races.
The race tends to be won by those towards the head of the market although Windsor Palace did spring a 66/1 shock in 2012 when he defeated his odds on stablemate St Nicholas Abbey.
