Kildare Restaurant Awarded ‘Restaurant of the Year’

Cliff at Lyons newest restaurant Aimsir has just been awarded Restaurant of the Year with the 2020 Georgina Campbell Awards.

The prestigious food and hospitality awards were held last week at Dublin’s InterContinental Hotel and saw various restaurants and hotels pick up awards around the country for their outstanding commitment to food and drink.

Aimsir (meaning weather as Gaeilge) is a 24-seater restaurant, inspired by the idea of climate and how it controls what grows and is harvested. Aimsir is a passionate advocate for an authentic range of ingredients used in a sophisticated and inventive way.

Having only recently opened its doors in May 2019, the restaurant is already seeing huge success, with the Irish Times calling it “the restaurant that puts Ireland on a plate”.

Cornwall-born chef Jordan Bailey and Danish front of house manager Majken Bech Christensen are the brains behind the operation and love to explore ingredients of their newly adopted home.

Jordan was previously head chef at 3 star Michelin Maaemo where the two met, and a key member of 2 star Michelin Restaurant Sat Bains, whilst Majken honed her skills at 2 star Michelin Henne Kirkeby Kro.

These two young newly-weds – in their twenties, one from Denmark, one from Cornwall, now making a home together in Ireland – are celebrating a larder that is new to both of them, and indulging in the excitement and adventure of discovering this bounty together.

The now award-winning restaurant is open for business as usual and a table can be booked here.
