Kildare has turned into a taste bud-tastic hot pot of flavours and choice, with an explosion of top restaurants and bars.

We obviously can’t list all of them here but we can give you just a few to tick off your bucket list!





Whether it’s a soup and a sandwich kind of lunch or a cup of tea with some treats over a chat, Firecastle in Kildare has got you covered! We highly recommend adding their delicious Poké Bowls to your food bucket list while in Kildare. They promise once you try it you will be back for more and we wholeheartedly agree!

The Auld Shebeen


We couldn’t make an ultimate food & drink bucket list and not include The Auld Shebeen in Athy. How refreshing do these look? They taste even better paired with their Handmade Stone Baked Pizza or renowned Crispy Chicken Wings, the Auld Shebeen have everything you need for the perfect meal out.




Here’s one for the cheese lovers out there! Fallons, Kildare’s premier Michelin recommended food experience has recently added this fabulous dish of Burrata with sundrop and heirloom tomato to their Sunday lunch menu. Fallons not only have a fabulous restaurant but also an impressive outdoor bar and seating area.

Food perfection in Sallins by a husband and wife team mean sated on the double! Seasonality rules in this restaurant and dictates the vegetables and dishes on the menu, which is varied from fresh fish to vegetarian options, all served with dollops of bliss.


Lock 13 Brew Pub



An absolute classic, Lock 13 Crispy Potato Skins loaded with melted Dubliner Red Cheddar, crispy Irish bacon, spring onions and topped with a dollop of sweet chilli mayo just had to make it to the food & drink bucket list of Kildare. Located in Sallins, Lock 13 Brew Pub is home to Kildare Brewing Company. Why not pair their delicious dishes with one of their Pale Ales, IPAs or Lagers? With an incredible outdoor dining area, brewery tours and beer tastings it is an experience that cannot be missed!




This 2 Michelin Star restaurant is located in the beautiful surroundings of Cliff at Lyons in Celbridge. Led by the talented husband and wife duo, Jordan and Majken Bech Bailey, Aimsir was awarded their Michelin Stars just four months after reopening. With a variety of experiences available, you have the option to pick the one that suits you and your tastes best. We promise it is an experience which will not be forgotten.




Go all out and dine in luxury in The Dining Room in Cunningham’s. A fantastic menu packed full of delicious Thai dishes as well as some European Classics. Don’t get us started on the cocktails! The Dining Room at Cunningham’s is an experience not to be missed for all foodies out there.


Bread & Beer


Set in the historic 200 year old Moone High Cross Inn, Bread and Beer is a culinary dream. The ultimate cozy setting paired with an extensive menu with some fabulous vegetarian options. We recommend their Cauliflower Risotto for a tasty veggie dish!


Cookes of Caragh


If seafood is your thing, we have just the place for you. From prawns to chowder to salmon Cookes of Caragh don’t do things by halves. Dine casually in the Gastro Longue before cosying up with a glass of wine in Cooke’s Bar or The Beer Park on warm summer evenings.

Aperol Sour anyone? When it comes to cocktails, it’s safe to say Edward Harrigan and Sons are experts at their craft. Their food is a firm favourite amongst locals in Kildare as they use the best of local Irish produce to create a fabulous menu suitable for families, business, casual, special events and private parties.
