The ultimate Co Kildare food and drink bucket list

Everyday is the new Friday when it comes to eating out, hitting the pub or just relaxing after work.

Kildare has turned into a taste bud-tastic hot pot of flavours and choice, with an explosion of top restaurants and bars.

We obviously can’t list all of them here but we can give you just a few to tick off your bucket list!

Oak Alley Restaurant and Cocktail Bar

Forget the Sex on the Beaches here – we’re talking Sazeracs (Excuse us not!), Doo Wops and Betty Boops! What’s not to like!

The Maynooth venue also has cocktails based on book and movie characters so get your Mr Darcy, Mr Big, Audrey Hepburn and Christian Grey right here – in 50 shades of shakers.

This Naas bar prides itself on its ‘killer’ cocktails and craft beers in an atmosphere of music. From Prosecco cocktails to its own inventions such as Reeses Cup and Granny Bliss, which can be washed down with an array of finger food

Vie de Chateau

French dining au formidable! The award-winning gourmet restaurant is a favourite for its magic blend of French culinary knowledge and quality Irish produce.
Nestled by the harbour in Naas, it’s hugely popular to both visitors and locals for lunch, dinner and even take-away dining.

Food perfection in Sallins by a husband and wife team mean sated on the double! Seasonality rules in this restaurant and dictates the vegetables and dishes on the menu, which is varied from fresh fish to vegetarian options, all served with dollops of bliss.

Silken Thomas

The dapper Earl of Kildare was known for his display of finery and his name-saked pub is no different, providing finery of comfort in all aspects in Kildare town. Through its doors, it offers not one but three pubs of choice if you fancy a traditional, sports or contemporary atmosphere.

Hanged Man’s Pub and Restaurant

A no pretension ethos is what this venue at Milltown operates on. The family run business sources its food from local suppliers as much as possible and states: “We treat each dish to a creative twist with no pretension.” A breath of fresh air in itself. They also claim to have the best pint in Ireland. Enough said.
