You will be glad to hear preparation for St. Patrick’s Day Parades in County Kildare is in full swing! After two years of virtual parades and celebrating from home, towns and villages around Kildare are pulling out all the stops to make this year an unforgettable celebration. With the four day bank holiday weekend lined up too, it is looking to be a fantastic weekend in Kildare.
This year Athy’s theme for their parade is ‘Paint the Town Green’ and ‘Community Together Again’. The parade is set out o be bigger, better and brighter than ever! The Athy Town Promoters Group is calling on all community, sporting and cultural organisations in the town and surrounding areas to join them to help showcase the best South Kildare has to offer. The Peoples Market & Friends in Monasterevin are hosting a spectacular St. Patrick’s Day event which is jammed packed with activities suitable for all ages. From crafts to music to dancing it is sure to be a fantastic day out.
Clane Festival is back in 2022 with a theme of ‘Our Children, Our Future’ with the plan to treat our children to a fun day out after the past two years. There is a fundraiser taking place in the Westgrove Hotel on February 25th which features a performance from The Druids to raise money for the parade. The parade itself is due to take place at 3pm with street entertainment from 2pm.
Kilcock’s much anticipated parade ‘A Bright Brand New Day’ will begin at 1.30pm on March 17th and will have lots of fun for all the family.
Celbridge Community Council are busy planning the St. Patrick’s Day parade which will include a ‘pre – parade gig’ from Sina Theil on Main Street in Celbridge! Don’t miss out on more exciting updates about the day and check out their Facebook page below!
This year, the theme of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Maynooth is ‘Love Our World’ to showcase the towns dedication to sustainability and togetherness. People are encouraged to take part with their own interpretation of the theme. The parade takes place at 11am on St. Patrick’s Day with road closures from 10am – 12pm on the day.
Leixlip are in the process of turning the town green, white and gold for St. Patrick’s Day. The parade will begin at 1pm and will end at Mill Lane Fire Station. Promised to be a great day out!
Taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Castletown House is this fantastic Céilí joined by Jerry O’Reilly and the Brian Boru Céilí Band from 1pm-3pm on St. Patrick’s Day. Don’t forget your dancing shoes!
The Auld Shebeen in Athy have a great weekend of craic, music and fun planned for St. Patrick’s Weekend. Following the Athy parade, The Shamrockers, Brian Kenna and Abbeyfold will perform live in the Auld Shebeen and the fun doesn’t stop there! Live music continues across the whole weekend with The Sullivan’s on Friday the 18th and Fran O’Mara on Saturday the 19th. Food served all weekend!

St. Patrick’s Well Glassely Ecumenical Service will take place at 3pm this St. Patrick’s Day in Ballitore.
Kildare Village have a host of activities planned for family fun this St. Patrick’s Weekend. From the 16th – 18th March, the village will be booming with music, Dj’s, complimentary arts and crafts workshops for the children and discounts for members of Kildare Village. Junior Einsteins are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a Science Party in Celbridge! From 1:30pm – 3:30pm, the party will consist of all things green with Leprechaun Slime, Lightsabre Science Fun, Plasma Ball Science Fun, lots of green explosions, Electrifying lightning, Flying Shamrocks, & Take-Home Shamrock Slime for all!
