The Curragh Racecourse will officially open the 2026 Irish Classics on Saturday, 23rd May and Sunday, 24th May with the world‑renowned Tattersalls Irish 2000 and 1000 Guineas, marking the first two of five iconic Irish Classics to be staged at Ireland’s home of flat racing.

One of the most anticipated fixtures in the European racing calendar, the Tattersalls Irish Guineas weekend draws elite equine talent, passionate racing fans, and a vibrant social crowd to the heart of Kildare. This year promises an exceptional atmosphere both on and off the track, as The Curragh also unveils its first style competition of the season, “The Ashford Castle Style Icon Award”. Entertainment across the weekend includes the Saturday night Afterparty with The Highstool Prophets.

Speaking ahead of the opening Classic, Brian Kavanagh, CEO of The Curragh Racecourse, said:
“The Tattersalls Irish Guineas is always a standout moment in our season, and the perfect way to launch the Irish Classics. The Curragh is where world‑class racing meets an unforgettable race day experience. We look forward to welcoming racegoers for a weekend of exceptional sport, style and atmosphere.”

Racegoers will enjoy a spectacular weekend of top‑tier racing, including the prestigious Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas, the first Classic of the year.  On Sunday, the fabulous filles contest, the Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas and the Tattersalls Gold Cup, rated amongst the top 10 races of the year in 2025, return. With the finest horses, trainers and jockeys competing on one of the world’s most respected tracks, the stage is set for an unforgettable opening to the Classic season.

The Curragh is delighted to welcome back Ashford Castle as the official style partner for the first fashion competition of 2026. Known globally for its timeless luxury and Irish heritage, Ashford Castle adds prestige and glamour to the race day’s fashion festivities. Following the success of last year’s competition, the Ashford Castle Style Icon Award returns with even greater anticipation. This year’s Style Icon will once again be selected by renowned stylist and TV personality Marietta Doran, joined by Lisa Toomey, Hotel Director of Quality at Ashford Castle.

Senior and u21 tickets start from €25 each day with an Adult weekend ticket of €50.  Under‑18s go free across the weekend when accompanied by a paying adult.
