What's On - June Fest 2022 - IntoKildare

Community and family festival, June Fest which takes place in Newbridge annually is back for 2022 since starting in 2012. Following a series of virtual events, the 2022 June Fest is surely not be to be missed. Their impressive line up of music acts, trad sessions, art exhibitions and family fun days are very popular among not going local residents in Newbridge but also visitors from all over Kildare and the rest of the country who travel for the festival each year.

Yarn Bombrs

The programme for this years festival runs for the whole month of June starting on June 3rd with it’s official opening in Liffey Linear Park.

While there is an abundance of events on in Newbridge in honour of the festival listed on the June Fest website and our own events page, we thought why not give you the lowdown on the ‘not to be missed’ events taking place over the month of June.

  • June Fest Official Opening – 3rd June – Liffey Linear Park
    • Attend the official opening of the annual festival and kick off the celebrations in Liffey Linear Park by enjoying live music from Róisín McAlinden and Con Cummins while marvelling at the famous yarn bombing which beautifully decorates the park each year for the festival by Kildare Yarn Bombers
  • Family Drumming Workshop June 4th June – Riverbank Arts Centre
    • Joing Jabba Jabba Jembe for a fantastic interactive workshop in Riverbank Arts Centre for all ages where you and your family can learn and play a variety of drums and instruments. This workshop is led by experienced drummers who hold an array of knowledge and skills on the instruments used.
  • PopUpArt Newbridge at The Riverbank Art Centre – throughout June – Riverbank Arts Centre
    • Following a series of virtual gallery and pop up exhibitions, Pop Up Art Newbridge a group of local Kildare artists will share their work for the month of June from the Riverbank Arts Centre. The exhibitions will include a beautiful visual experience with the opportunity to purchase some of your favourite pieces
  • Bands on the Bank – 5th June – Liffey Linear Park
    • Pack a picnic, round up the gang and head to Liffey Linear Park for a great afternoon of song from Vagabonds and Thieves and some other surprise guests. Don’t forget your dancing shoes! (tip: be sure to visit The George’s Street Party afterwards for some amazing dancing and street shows!)
  • Monster Family Fun Day – 6th June – St. Conleth’s Park
    • One of the highlights if the festival, the Monster Family Fun Day will take place in St. Conleth’s GAA Park on the 6th of June. The event is jammed packed with food stalls, games, fun fair activities and more!
  • Pete Kavanagh & Band – 18th June – riverbank Arts Centre
    • Kildare native, Pete Kavanagh and band will be performing tracks from his critically acclaimed debut album “Join up the Dots”, at the Riverbank Arts Centre on Saturday June 18th as part of Junefest
  • Biodiversity Walk – throughout June – Liffey Linear Park
    • Take the path from Liffey Linear Park to The Strand with ‘Dee the Bee’ and follow the adventure with 20 storyboards. Explore all the wonderful flowers, insects, plants and animals that populate the park which will be opened for the month of June and activity sheets available from the Library and the June Fest website.
