Day 1 

Begin your holiday with a little history in Kildare town – where you can literally walk in the footsteps of saints and explorers! 

Visit the town’s Heritage Centre for its wonderful VR experience, before setting off on the Heritage Trail, which takes in St Brigid’s Cathedral and Round Tower. Head for lunch at Hartes Bar & Grill, right in the centre of the town. After lunch, drive to Maynooth to explore the 13th century Maynooth Castle. Maynooth University is also well worth a visit – a tour of the college buildings is available through the on-site visitor’s centre. 

Then it’s time to check into your chosen hotel. A great choice is Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel a five-star hotel that is ideal for a romantic break thanks to its opulent rooms and wonderful dining options. Take a leisurely stroll through some of the trails around estate, or expand your knowledge with a pleasurable whiskey or wine tasting experience before treating yourself to some fine dining in the Michelin Star, Morrison Room or a more laidback meal in the Carriage House. 

Day 2 

After a great night’s sleep in your luxurious room, enjoy a round of golf on one of the championship courses – a golfer’s dream! If golf isn’t your thing, book into the luxurious spa at Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel for a treatment and some chill-out time by the pool. Absolute bliss! 

Fuel up with lunch at Shóda Market Café, at the Glenroyal Hotel before embarking on the beautiful Royal Canal Greenway. The Greenway can be enjoyed by foot or by bike to Kilcock and beyond (hire your bike at Maynooth Harbour).
