Newbridge

Newbridge is located on the edge of the Curragh Plains and bounded by the Bog of Allen and Pollardstown Fen. The area is well known for Irish horse breeding, training and racing so it’s no surprise that dotted around nearby are numerous stud farms as well as the Curragh Racecourse. The town expanded rapidly after the Curragh Camp was built in the 19^th century. The town, on the banks of the River Liffey, is probably best known for being the home of Newbridge Silverware who have been manufacturing cutlery here since 1934 and more recently as having the largest regional shopping centre in Ireland – Whitewater. The quiet villages of Athgarvan, Kilcullen and Allen are nearby as well as the oldest golf course, the Royal Curragh.
