Experience Things To Do in Kildare

Experience Kildare

Co. Kildare may be one of Ireland’s smaller counties but it’s packed full of things to explore and discover – in fact, there’s so much to see and do that it can be hard to squeeze it all into one holiday!

Kildare is the birthplace of Arthur Guinness and Ernest Shackleton, but going back even further, Kildare was home to St Brigid, one of Ireland’s three patron saints. Cill Dara, meaning “church of the oak”, is the Irish name for Kildare, as well as the name for the monastery founded by St Brigid, which became an important centre for early Christianity in Ireland.

With this amount of history, modern and ancient, it’s not surprising that history and heritage surround you wherever you go in Co. Kildare – the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East.
